Laura excels in sports as well as science. In 1996 Laura missed the last step of the stairs. She hit back by playing wheelchairs tennis and picked up hand biking a few years later. She got instantly hooked and showed to be one of the greatest talents of the sport. Since 2005 Laura competed in three Paralympics and many World Championships and World Cups, her victories and medals are countless. Even more admirable, she combined it all with being a scientist at the Radboud University of Nijmegen and promoted at the same time.
